Getting Started
A practical introduction to Lab Belay — what it does, how it's organized, and how to navigate it.
Lab Belay is a cloud-based laboratory management platform. You access it through any modern browser at app.labbelay.bio. No software installation is needed.
What Lab Belay manages
Lab Belay is organized around the resources in your lab:
- Chemicals — substances with safety data, lab and bench assignments, and NFPA/GHS hazard classifications
- Equipment — instruments, tools, and devices with maintenance histories
- Labs and Benches — physical spaces that hold chemicals and equipment
- Locations — buildings and facilities that contain labs
- Tasks — maintenance, compliance, and operational work items
The main sidebar
After signing in, the left sidebar gives you access to every section:
| Section | What you'll find |
|---|---|
| Tasks | Your to-do list and recurring tasks |
| Labs | Lab spaces, their contents, and QR codes for instant access to safety data |
| Chemicals | Your chemical inventory |
| Equipment | Your equipment inventory |
| Benches | Individual workstations within labs |
| Locations | Buildings and facilities |
| Settings | Organization and user configuration (admins only) |
Beaker AI
The Beaker section in the sidebar opens an AI assistant. You can ask Beaker to find chemicals, search equipment, help import data from spreadsheets, and generate reports — all in plain language.
